About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The journal is a new venture and aiming to fill the gap in the available resources for clinicians and researchers to present their findings on all aspects of policy, organisation, delivery and clinical practice related to the assessment, diagnosis, prevention and management of lower limb complications of patients with diabetes. Our Editorial team is slowly evolving and with the current team we have extensive expertise in a variety of areas in the manging complex complications associated with diabetes related to the lower extremity.

Peer Review Process

The Foot in Diabetes employs a blind peer review process with at least two referees evaluating each manuscript submitted. Anyone interested in serving as a reviewer should read the  information for reviewers.  Reviewers may be members of the publication’s Editorial Board or ad hoc reviewers with specialized knowledge related to the topic at hand. All reviewers possess an advanced degree and demonstrate scholarly history in lower limb preservation or related fields. Manuscripts will be reviewed for the significance of the problem, the quality of the method and argument, and clarity of writing. The goal is to review and respond to submissions within six weeks.  

Publication Frequency

The Foot in Diabetes will be published quarterly initially with the initial issue being published in April 2022.

Open Access Policy

The Foot in Diabetes will utilize the Creative Commons licensing protocols for open access content at the Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) level, which allows others to remix, tweak, and build upon work non-commercially, and although all new works must acknowledge the original source and be non-commercial, they do not have to license their derivative works on the same terms. 

Publication Ethics Statement

TFID is in the process of developing a Research Committee, which shall provide the journal and researchers with input from other active researchers, in developing guidelines to provide an ethical framework for individuals pursuing research. In the Foot in Diabetes. The guidelines shall be informed by models used by other organizations engaged in research involving research into the Foot in Diabetes and shall be aligned with the International Society’s Codes of Ethics. These guidelines will be taken into consideration when reviewing manuscripts for the Foot in Diabetes.

The Code of Conduct is based on guidelines and best practice recommendations issued by organizations such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Adhering to these will ensure that you are working to the highest standard of editorial practice. 

TFID aim in adopting these guidelines and aim to become members of the COPE in the near future, doing so should highlight the professional nature of TFID and show we aim to uphold these values and integrity in research. Editors are expected to adhere to the COPE Core Practices.
